The Endless Winter

This is just a test post cause there was an issue with my ISP making posting impossible.

More ice and snow.  Last one was a massive ice storm, knocking out power to our house for 5 days.  It was cold.  It was miserable.  It was actually a bit traumatic for some reason.  You worry about all kinds of bad things happening when the temp in your house is just at freezing for 5 days, and you have no idea when it will be fixed.  I still had the jitters 12 hours on after it was fixed.  It was an ordeal..

Its 7 degrees now, and we have about 6 inches of snow on top of frozen ground.  The whole east cost is gonna get blasted again this week.  The south may go thru ice/power issues like we did.  Knowing what it is like firsthand, my heart goes out to them.  I’m not even thinking of when I’ll ever detect again, which sucks cause this is a metal detecting blog.  I’ve found a total of 6 coins so far this year.

So that all is what it is.  Sometimes life is hard.  I know people live in areas where it is like this most of the winter.  It just isn’t like this around here too often, and I not used to it, and am growing weary of it.

  1. Test is a success. Glad you are home and don’t have to go through that again. I am very weary of this winter and restless of waiting for warmer weather.

  2. Forty plus nights here this winter of below zero F readings, a majority of those 20 below or colder. 3.5 feet of snow on the ground. Extreme for here, at least recently. Propane prices for heating tripled almost overnight, but we had enough via pre-pay. Finally back in the 20s. Seems like it has been forever. Yet, despite all that you had it tougher because of the ice storms. We typically don’t get those, usually cold enough that it is all snow here. So power outages are a rarety, but I get mega-stressed at just the thought of one. Good weather will get here soon, be here before we know it.

  3. Hang in there man, sounds brutal.

One of the things that really pisses me off about all of this is I got some environmentalist asshole on another forum blaming all of this on global warming, of all things, right while me and my family are suffering, implying any burning of fossil fuels (by me and others) is the cause. I’m as green as the next guy; I recycle, don’t waste anything, don’t litter, and so forth, but I’ll be damned if I’ll put up with that nonsense. When it comes to keeping my family warm, I’m gonna burn whatever it takes.

So, maybe I pissed a few environmentalists off who won’t read my blog anymore. Good riddance.

  4. I would love to see some global warming, it’s too darn cold! That groundhog he is burger and what’s for dinner tonight if I run into him. As Stan says “Intercourse the Groundhog” [We try not to swear]. That would also apply to environmentalist with all their rhetoric baloney. Hang in there guys! Now I need to go eat, got hungry for some reason. 😉
