{"id":2493,"date":"2014-05-18T13:54:35","date_gmt":"2014-05-18T17:54:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mapsurfer.com\/blog\/?p=2493"},"modified":"2014-05-18T14:10:08","modified_gmt":"2014-05-18T18:10:08","slug":"relics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.puzzlemaze.org\/df\/blog\/archives\/2493","title":{"rendered":"Relics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been out once since 5\/7 before today.\u00a0 Just to close off my 76 silver site.\u00a0 Didn&#8217;t find anymore silvers.\u00a0 Oh well.\u00a0 So sad to see such a special site go.\u00a0 Found 2 half dollars there, including a Barber, a shield nickel, a largie, and of course all the silvers.\u00a0 Just a normal town park.\u00a0 Who says you can&#8217;t find silver in parks anymore?\u00a0 Bet there are quite a few still there.\u00a0 Found most of them in the summer of 2011, my 516 silver year.\u00a0 Learned most of what I know about metal detecting at that place.<\/p>\n<p>Back to the real world, where I am no longer finding silver, but, in all fairness, I rarely have to time or the circumstance to get out anymore.\u00a0 I did get a rare weekend hunt in this morning tho, at an abandoned house.<\/p>\n<p>Frustrating hunt, as I got alot of deep high tones, but not one single coin for about 4 hours.\u00a0 It was hard to tell if the place was hunted out or not.\u00a0 I did get 5 old copper buckles and a big ass skeleton key (about 5 inches long), which suggested that there could be goodies here, but there weren&#8217;t.\u00a0 Those buckles sound so good too, like silver pretty much.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.puzzlemaze.org\/df\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/051814a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2494\" title=\"051814a\" src=\"http:\/\/www.puzzlemaze.org\/df\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/051814a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"514\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.puzzlemaze.org\/df\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/051814a.jpg 514w, https:\/\/www.puzzlemaze.org\/df\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/051814a-300x268.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.puzzlemaze.org\/df\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/051814a-335x300.jpg 335w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 514px) 100vw, 514px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I also got a silver relic as a consolation prize, looks like the back of a pocket watch.\u00a0 Its marked &#8220;junior coin No 1&#8221;, with some number stamped below it.\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t find anything on this, but I&#8217;m guessing that means it is coin silver,\u00a0 It certainly tests as silver, and comes in at a hefty 12+ grams.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, at the very end, got the only coin of the day, a toasted King George III copper with 3 (are you kidding me?) holes.\u00a0 Certainly not photo-worthy, there just for reference for the big silver thing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.puzzlemaze.org\/df\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/051814.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2495\" title=\"051814\" src=\"http:\/\/www.puzzlemaze.org\/df\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/051814.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"622\" height=\"439\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.puzzlemaze.org\/df\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/051814.jpg 622w, https:\/\/www.puzzlemaze.org\/df\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/051814-300x211.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.puzzlemaze.org\/df\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/051814-425x300.jpg 425w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Well, it looks like that kind of year, where I don&#8217;t get out much.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll see.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been out once since 5\/7 before today.\u00a0 Just to close off my 76 silver site.\u00a0 Didn&#8217;t find anymore silvers.\u00a0 Oh well.\u00a0 So sad to see such a special site go.\u00a0 Found 2 half dollars there, including a Barber, a &hellip;
